Nice to meet you! My name is Debra Scholer.
Born and raised in Southern Alberta on a farm, I've always been a prairie girl. Ironically, I studied as a city planner (it's true!) and worked in Calgary and Edmonton after graduating with my Masters in Environmental Design.... I guess it wasn't meant to be as life has taken me a different direction! Now I am based out of Luseland, Saskatchewan, back in the rural prairies where I belong and photographing professionally since 2016.
I love cats, red wine, yardwork, online card games and random trivia and mostly my two kiddos, ages 13 and 15. You will find me running around between sports for the kids, going for long walks or working part-time at the local post office. And of course, I love photography; it's been the constant in my life.
I used to take my parent's old flash film camera around the farm photographing all our animals. They were thrilled when the film was already full right before an important family event... oops!
My photographs are natural, lifestyle and connection-based. I focus on your interactions and having fun together - with a few of those "smile at the camera" essential photos for grandparents included! We call these the Grandma Shots. I prefer to shoot true-to-life colours in a timeless style.
What is a session with me like?
I have a gift of making you feel comfortable and capturing the connections between people. The session might not go perfectly..... life happens. We roll with the life stage your family is at. If it takes acting like a total goofball to get a natural smile from you, I will do it! - and even sneak a smile from that family member who hates being photographed (Uncle "Jim/Bob/Gary"!).
Full service photographer
I am also a full-service photographer, meaning, I provide prints, albums, custom cards, framing and gorgeous wall art for your home. You deserve better than just downloading digital files that end up lost in a drawer or buried somewhere on your computer. Your photos deserve to be showcased in your home or presented in cards or albums that you can look back at and cherish.
My studio is located in Luseland, SK and I travel throughout the region - I will travel to you!
